The OFLA Mission

Every Ohio student will be proficient in a second language, which is essential to a world-class education.

The OFLA Vision

The Ohio Foreign Language Association is committed to articulated, standards-based world language study beginning in the primary grades, so that every learner, from early childhood through adult, acquires a high level of communicative and intercultural competence.

The OFLA Strategic Plan

  1. Establish clear expectations for foreign language learners.
  2. Build the capacity of foreign language educators to prepare learners to demonstrate their proficiency.
  3. Build support for foreign language instruction among parents, policy leaders, the business community and opinion leaders in the media.
  4. Advocate to attract, support and retain highly qualified foreign language educators.

The OFLA Foundation was established by the Board to enable members and other interested parties to contribute funds to be used to promote world language education.

The Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2003 to provide leadership for the future. Funds contributed will be used to defray the expenses of a number of pre-service world language education students to attend the OFLA annual conference. Any contribution made "in memory" or "in honor" of someone will be applied to this fund.

If you wish to contribute to this worthy endeavor, please send your check (payable to OFLA, with "Foundation" inscribed on the memo line) to the OFLA Executive Treasurer (click link for current mailing address).  You can also make an online donation using PayPal (an account is not required).

Donations are tax-deductible and receipts will be issued to all donors. Those who contribute $20 or more will be recognized in the awards program booklet at the annual conference.
